Job Summary
We are looking for individual to join our client’s team as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist. You will use a large magnetic scanner that creates a powerful magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues.
Job Description
- Able to check-in patient procedure and performs the MRI imaging studies as per protocol.
- Will maintain and coordinate the availability of MRI services with other services, clinics or other facilities and locations under his/her jurisdiction. Reports to the Associate Director of Radiology.
- Review exam orders, consult with radiologist, schedule patients, and arrange for transportation as indicated.
- Identify patient and document all information pertinent to final report in the RIS and PACS
- Prepare all patients for MRI procedures requested by the clinician. Arrange for proper protection of patients, public and staff from infectious diseases/materials.
- Oversee the work of ancillary staff. Instruct technical staff and Radiologic Technology students in routine, special positions and procedures.
- Perform and supervises the performance of examinations in the MRI section during off hour shifts as appropriate. Responsible for he assistance and performance of difficult and highly specializes MRI procedures. Able to perform general diagnostic exams as appropriate.
- Check submitted MRI images for diagnostic quality of the procedure in conjunction with the MRI supervisor/manager and radiologist.
- Perform daily checks of MRI imaging equipment, immobilization devices and other necessary accessories. Reviews daily maintenance, quality assurance and maintains documents and logs as required and mandated by the department and various regulatory agencies. Act as the Quality Assurance Technologist, perform image and document the records required as directed. (Maintains adequate stocks of supplies and materials needed for use in the department.)
- Conduct inspections and checks equipment for defects and assures proper use of such equipment through instruction and review.
- Report any unexpected patient incidents (ferromagnetic injuries or thermal injury from RF overexposure) In accordance with the occurrence report protocol.
- Maintain and exercise all mandated MRI safety regulations. Maintain basic care of all MRI imaging equipment. All malfunctions are to be reported to management staff whether mechanical, electrical, or suspect and service request documentation completed. Maintain a clean and safe work environment for both patients and staff.
- Supervise the work of training Radiographers and ancillary staff. Instruct training technical staff and radiologic technology students in routine, special positions and procedures. Assures proper use of equipment through instructions and review. Trains and supervises radiology students in proper use of MRI techniques and magnetic safety and ensures enforcement of NYS Health Code laws pertaining to MRI safety for patients, public and staff.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary in the event of emergencies or disaster.
- Attend meetings to review safety, fire, disaster and other hospital and department policies, and confirms that a clean and safe work environment is maintained for both patients and staff.
- Continue professional growth and development of job-related skills on an ongoing basis. Participate in continuing education activities.
- Assist radiologist during MRI and other radiographic procedures as required.
- Ensure all examinations are accessioned, documented in EPIC and all images sent to PACS.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and related to patients, physicians, staff and public in an appropriate manner.
- In accordance with HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), staff members will exercise due diligence in ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
Skills Required
- 1 year MRI experience, Relevant Equipment.
- Preferred: Experience with GE and Siemens equipment
Education/Training/Certifications
- Current certification and registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).

- Malpractice Insurance - All Credentialed Providers are required to have active individual Medical Malpractice.
- Schedule Notes: Monday - Friday 11pm - 7am (35hrs) Tuesday 5pm - 1am (7hrs) Saturday 8am - 4pm, 4pm - 12am (14hrs) Sunday 8am - 4pm, 4pm - 12am (14hrs).
