Field Engineer (Networks)

Location: Carlsbad, CA

Travel: Up to 50% (2 weeks per month)

Position Summary:

 

As a Field Network Engineer, you'll be the backbone of our Wi-Fi infrastructure. You'll design, deploy, and manage robust Wi-Fi networks across our communities, ensuring seamless connectivity for residents and associates. This role is a blend of hands-on technical expertise and collaborative problem-solving.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wi-Fi Network Design and Optimization: Plan and implement high-performance Wi-Fi networks that meet the needs of our diverse communities.
  • Site Surveys and Heat Mapping: Conduct thorough site surveys to assess network coverage and identify areas for improvement.
  • Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Utilize advanced tools to monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively optimize the user experience.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the IT Services and Infrastructure Group on IT infrastructure projects, ensuring seamless integration of network solutions.
  • Field Support: Travel to our communities nationwide to provide onsite expertise and support for network-related projects and issues.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure the successful delivery of network services.
  • Documentation and Training: Develop comprehensive network documentation and provide training to community staff on network best practices.
  • Technology Innovation: Stay ahead of the curve by researching and implementing emerging Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Network Security: Implement and manage network security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of Wi-Fi networking concepts and protocols.
  • Proven experience in designing, deploying, and optimizing Wi-Fi networks.
  • Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting wireless devices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Experience with Ruckus/CommScope or RG Nets is a plus.
