The EmPATH Crisis Liaison

JOB SUMMARY

  • Serves as a clinical member of the EmPATH program.
  • Flexibility required at high volume service times to provide transportation to and from the EmPATH unit.
  • Will act as a liaison between client and community partners to ensure that client gains access to identified resources.
  • Also will be able to complete other assigned duties on the unit including discharge planning and care to clients while on unit.
  • Provides crisis intervention to help clients de-escalate with the intention to divert client to least restrictive level of care.
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
  • Regular attendance is an essential job function.
  • This position requires utilizing a Center vehicle to Conduct Center business.
  • Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.
  • Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift.

  1. Participates as an active member of the crisis team.

  • Begins and ends workday as scheduled and is accessible by cell phone when in the field.

  • Communicates with all crisis programs (MCU, CSU/WIC) and other behavioral health destinations to determine transports scheduled.

  • Responds appropriately to all flags, emails, and voicemails.

  • Demonstrates a consideration and concern for fellow workers and their jobs and promotes harmonious relationships and attitudes.

  • Is expected to have regular and predictable attendance and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

  • Attends and participates in scheduled administrative team meetings.

  • Accepts additional assignments and/or changes in assignments and/or work.

  • Must stay awake and alert on all shifts.

2. Completes documentation of client care in compliance with licensure and funder standards.

  • Completes all necessary documentation for each client daily.

  • Clearly documents clinically relevant information.

  • Completes all reports.

  • Fill out transportation log daily.

3. Provides support and transport for clients in crisis services.

  • Ensures that all clients are transported as timely as possible.

  • Provides transportation services according to established protocol.

  • Provide supportive listening and social interaction when on transport with client.

  • Acts as a liaison with community agencies and families to ensure access to care for client.

COMPENSATION:

  • Starting salary for this position is approximately $16.94 /hr based on relevant experience and education.

QUALIFICATIONS - EmPATH Crisis Liaison

Experience / Skills:

  • One-year practical experience working with individuals with a mental illness preferred.
  • Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a mental illness to live and work in the community and to have access to competent and appropriate support services.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to abide by professional/ethical code of conduct and to establish supportive and respectful relationships with clients.

Education / Knowledge :

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field of counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, or other behavioral science field with course work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Physical/Emotional/Social - Skills/Abilities:

  • Possible exposure to biological hazards.
  • Valid driver's license with F endorsement.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. CPR & First Aid required.
